INITIAL TRIAL REPORT.

She entered the stalls with no real signs of the problems that had marred her previous jump-outs and no need for a blindfold. Although her jockey Ronald Stam did dismount before she was led into her stall. She broke very well, in fact so well is was soon in the lead and settled well enough (although a little green), she was still leading as they rounded the bend and came into the straight. She had her head down and was stretching well as a sprint for the line developed. She was not pushed in this sprint and finished a comfortable 4th or 5th only a few lengths off the winner. Stam was very pleased with her as was Heather and Albert. Albert had not had time to speak to Heather about her immediate plans but she was nominated for the 1000 guineas yesterday, although it is more likely she will shape into an Oaks filly. As they say you have to be in to win and another 600m will certainly be more to her liking so only time will tell.

ALBERT REPORT.

The Italian Job trialled well at Foxton. She went over 1000m which we knew would be too short for her, but she jumped out of the barriers brilliantly to cross the field and lead. She lead to the straight before stretching out nicely with her head down like a real stayer. The real sprinters who are suited to 1000m got past her, but it was a great trial for a filly who will need more ground to finish midfield. She was a bit grumpy afterwards and tried to bite me, so I might request some danger money for the next trials. We will see how she comes through the trial, but I think Heather may want to give her one more trial before she makes her race day debut. She will let us know in the next few days. I am very pleased and we are on track with her.

HEATHER'S REPORT.

Went a good trial having gone into the barriers a lot better than her previous efforts.  She jumped quick and lead them up then just blew out a bit in the straight.  We had possibly been a little too easy on her since her last jump out, but that's what the trial was for, to see where she’s at. We will see how she is in the next week and all going well will find a nice 1400m for her.

Jump-Out #4

Levin

17th May 2005

ALBERT REPORT.

Twiggy trialled over 800 metres today on a track that was cutting out (a bit wet).
We wanted to focus on her starting manners as she was a bit reluctant at the barrier last campaign. She took a little bit of persuading to get in but was much better than last time, a good sign.
She jumped well to dispute the lead well into the straight and just blew out the last little bit to run a pretty close 3rd of the 3 in just over 48 seconds.
This will improve her fitness and she will kick off her campaign in a fillies and mares 1200 at Foxton on June the 6th. We expect this to be too short for her and I think she will excel as she steps up in distance, but it is a good starting point for her.  Go Twiggy!

HEATHER'S REPORT.

She jumped well in her trial and fought all the way to the line, going down by less than a length and just blowing out the last bit. We originally looked at starting her campaign at Foxton on the 6th of June over 1200 metres, but will now opt for a three year old 1320 metre race at Wanganui on the 4th of June, where she has performed well before. We will work on her fitness between now and the race as she blew a bit after the trial, but we are very pleased with the way she looks at this stage of her campaign.

Jump-Out #3

Foxton

18th Aug 2004

ALBERT REPORT.

Twiggy had a jump out over 800 metres at Foxton on Wednesday. After being a little unco-operative at the barriers, she went in and jumped well to lead before being restrained back. She hooked out in the straight and finished very strongly to run second under a nice hold.

She is coming up very well and will now go to the trials at Foxton on the 7th September and will then be ready to make her race debut.

Bring your ouzo for that one. Bella, bella, bella.

HEATHER'S REPORT.

Went well in her jump out but did have the usual problems with getting her into the gates.  She is not getting any better but at least she is no worse.  She has to have the blindfold on her, and then she resists for a while.  Once in she doesn't have a care in the world.  She jumped first then settled well running third till the turn then really lengthened out nicely to finish second out of four, being beaten by only half a length.  She felt very well and will go to our trials on the 7th.

Jump-Out #2

Levin

4th Aug 2004

ALBERT'S REPORT.

Twiggy went very well in her jump out today at Levin. The track was very heavy and we only wanted to send her 600m because of where she is fitness-wise, but the only jump out for her was over 800m.

She was a bit of a handful behind the barrier, but once in jumped beautifully to lead before being restrained to settle back. She stretched out very nicely in the straight, not pushed to run third. The jockey was very impressed and said she felt awesome. With her mothers breeding and the way she is stretching out she looks like she will get over ground.

We are very much on target with her, we just need to get her barrier manners sorted out.

HEATHER'S REPORT.

Had to go 800m because of being a three year old now.  They got her into the gates eventually, took a little time but wasn't too bad.  She jumped out first of six, then settled around fourth and worked home very nicely.  The track was heavy so she blew out half way down, but still kept trying.  It was a very nice jump out, mainly getting her into the barriers but was a nice run also.  Will give her a bit of time to get over that as she has worried about it a little.

Jump-Out #1

Foxton

10th Mar 2004

ALBERT'S REPORT.

She was down to have a jump out at Foxton today, but once she got around to the barriers, she decided that she wouldn't go into them. This is what her dam was like, and she won a group 3 race, so I'm taking it as a good sign. After the field of three had jumped away, they loaded her by herself and she went 600m in a good time of 37 seconds.

She will no go for a break of about a month before coming back in and being prepared for a race.

HEATHER'S REPORT.

Got a little fired up at the jump outs and she ended up going by herself.  Didn't get as much of a line on her as we would've liked but it was still good education for her.  She went a nice time by herself and ran straight, doing everything right.  She has had enough for now and needs a bit of time out to let her mature more.  Will keep her in for a couple of days to make sure she is alright, then send her out.
